I love my bestie

Happy Birthday to me! WOOT!
Being the smart military wife that she is, my best friend Kaylee decided to wait until I got settled in Washington to send my birthday present. I got it today! Kaylee I must say that you are the AWESOME :)

Be jealous folks, very jealous. This is every season of Reba that I don't have! AND a Target gift card. Jack is going to have to give up the tv to mama tonight. Goodbye Sesame Street, Helllooooo Reba!

Why yes, of course she sent something for the munchkin. A very cool set of keys that make noise and have a light... and make A LOT of noise when he bangs them on his high chair tray. And I must also say, they came in a very cool box as well. I'm keeping the tray part to put my pens/pencils in :)

In action with the banging, "Thanks aunt Kaylee , I LOVE them." love Flapjack.

Me acting all giddy right before I popped this baby into the DVD player! (Ignore my "it's cleaning day around here" hair, and don't worry I'm still cleaning... just enjoying some classic Barbara Jean and Reba arguments while I'm doing it :)

Sunny Day, Sweepin' the Clouds Away

Little Sesame Street inspiration for our title today! Mostly because I think it's burned into my brain. As if I didn't watch enough of it as a child, it is the only show Jack will pay attention to for more than 2 minutes. So please just ignore me if I make a few references (or more than a few) to Sesame Street.

But, it was indeed sunny as can be in the Puget Sound today! I always forget how good the sun feels after I haven't seen it in a while. I skipped out on working in the house and continuing my blog makeover, and Kellee, Jack and I went to the Port of Olympia for a picnic.  We parked at the Famer's Market parking lot so we could walk along the docks down to the water.

Every time I go down by the docks, I always think of how my grandpa would love to see all the boats, and how he would love to fish out here :)

We took lots of pictures today because Nana Beth was saying I don't take enough of the munchkin. So here ya go mama!
Some of my favorites from today.

After our picnic, we came home and started what I'm pretty sure is becoming my new tv show obession

I'd like to thank Marcy and Jeremy for sharing with me the awesomeness that is this show! So hilarious. If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend you do. I watched one episode with the Jones' and I was hooked. Now, I'm getting the whole first season through netflix! Yeah! I can't wait to get disc 2 in a couple days.

Jack has a bad case of mommyitis tonight, I think his teeth being so close to coming through is really starting to bother him. I took at advantage and got myself some baby love when I could. We cuddled up on the couch with Lunabug, and watched a movie called Funny People. It was an okay movie, not great, but I do love Adam Sandler.

Tomorrow is going to be a day full of cleaning and straightening up around here. I plan on getting the last of the things we really need next week. (Jack's crib, dining chairs, bookshelf, and MAYBE a guest bed and patio furniture). Also tomorrow I will give an update on our favorite soldier, seems I haven't done that in quite a while. Sigh, time for bed. Only a few more weeks, and I won't be going alone!

New Changes

If you're reading this, you'll notice some major changes on our blog! All things to upgrade and give it a new look, no worries that I'm leaving y'all!

First, it is important to note that even though our title has changed, the url (web address) will stay the same. We will still be located at http://www.davisfamily2009.blogspot.com/

Our new Title is ... "Livin' Our Love Song" inspired by the song from Jason Michael Carroll

I still have a few more changes and tweeks up my sleeve that will be added in the next couple days, so stay tuned!

What's that in the sky? The sun? Oh yeah I forgot

Haven't blogged lately because there's really not much going on. I'm actually blogging right now to avoid hanging my geometric shelves in the living room. They are such a pain to try and get exactly even and spaced just right. But maybe thats just because I have an issue with OCD and even spacing. It's quite ridiculous. Anyways, when I finally do hang the shelves I will post pictures. I love the way they look when I get them just right but it takes me forever to get them how I like them. P.S. Does anyone else put their movies and books in alphabetical order? At least I'm not setting up a full functioning library this time, right mom? :)

We have finally started to get a taste of summer in Washington. The sun was out ALL DAY this past Saturday for the first time since I've been back. I mowed the yard (more like fought with the yard) and Jack and I took a walk afterwards.
Jack wasn't too impressed...

Oh I forgot I made these for my kitchen!

I needed some magnets and I couldn't find any I like so I just used some left over seashells I had and hotglued magnets to the back and BAM! Cute beachy magnets.

I also gave my old ugly clock a makeover so it could join be included in the dining area.
BEFORE
AFTER

I'm not entirely happy with the brown background color, so that may be redone to a more sandy brown or a blue color in the future, but for now it'll do.

Stuff

I'm too lazy to think of an amazing title so "Stuff" it is!

First, I can't wait to get this man home! Only about a month left! He looks so good! And because this is a public website, I won't go any further than that ;)

Kellee & I went to the Romancing the Spouse event today in Dupont, like we had planned. Though it wasn't a total bust, it wasn't at all as we were hoping it'd be. We got a free massage (by some weirdos that think magnetic shoe insoles increase your energy and power), but hey, I'll listen to your bullcrap if it means a free massage. We signed up for lots of raffles, and got a free box of chocolates, 4 free tickets to the Space Needle, coupons for a free pizza, and I stole some pens. After getting a not-so-good makeover from some make-up consultants from Costco, we decided to call it a day. (Well okay, Kellee's looked good, mine made me look like I belonged on the corner). We ate lunch and she came over to help me with Jack's room and chill.

So here they are, pictures of Jack's room! (What I have done so far at least!). He still needs a crib, curtains, things for the walls, and more toys!

Munchkin loves it too! And he LOVES the bear daddy made for him, he smiles every time I push the button and he hears Jeff's voice!

Tumblr

How many of you have heard of Tumblr? 1 person? 10? none?

I had never heard of it before my BFF Erin showed it to me. And I must say, I do like it. It's basically like a blog, but its much simpler to post quotes, text, photos, links, videos, and audio. I mostly use mine to re-blog photos and things from other Tumblr users and quotes, but I use it as a vent to what's on my mind. Single thoughts.

The link to my tumblr page is now listed at the top right.
ENJOY!

Kitchen/Dining Area- Check, well kinda.

That's right folks, I actually made some progress today! About time right? I've only been here ohhhhh about 18 days. Since June marks the last full month of deployment, I motivated my butt into gear today. I was up before Jack today (that rarely happens, anyone who knows me knows I'm not a morning person, in fact I loathe morning). Anywho, Jack and I took Ty (Marcy's son) to school today since she had some stuff to do with her other munchkin. After that, I finally got some tea in me and proceeded to sit my bum on the couch for a while and enjoy Sesame Street for the 23095723059th time with Jack. (I really need to get him another DVD, for my own sanity). My boxes from that my dad (God Bless him) shipped to me came today via UPS. And I think that was the turning point for me today. When I opened them, I instantly felt more "at home" in my house. It's our stuff. Our things. Our memories, It's Jack's stuffed animals and books from all the people that love him so much, our Welsh love spoon Meg and Cynog gave to us at our wedding, the bible from Nanny and Granddad that we cherish so much, my plaque from my mom that reminds me she'll love me (us) "forever for always and no matter what", all the letters we've exchanged over the years, the medical ID band and the hospital beanie that our baby boy wore in his first hours of life, and the scrapbook full of memories that displays the first months of Jeff and I's relationship that started it all. Between my mom and dad's divorce and my adult military life, it's been hard for me to feel at home in any place. These things, they mean home for me. They tell me that I'm in my home, not just a home. The boxes aren't fully unpacked, but I soon will start spreading "home" throughout my house and let it fill my heart in the process.

I know, I know. Enough sentimental stuff. So without further to do, here's the progress I've made in my kitchen/dining area! Theme.... BEACH!

The Davis family calendar! It's basically a sticker with a dry erase marker. But oh how I love it. I'm a planning freak. To have my schedule and to do list right here handy is awesome!

Dining area. Table is from ikea, it has a hidden leaf below the main tabletop that can be put in to allow for room for guests. I still need curtains for the sliding door, CHAIRS, and a rug for underneath the table. Also going to find more things for the wall, it's just so darn big.

The sole piece of decor I have on the wall right now

Kitchen Sink Area, don't mind the kettle in the sink

Other side of the kitchen. Love my new lighthouse! I have a quietly growing "thing" for lighthouses. I also can't wait to pop open that bottle of wine when Jeff gets home (Thanks aunt Chris!). Let's hope he doesn't make slushie out of this bottle ;) Love you babe

Not finished, but at least I got something done, right? Now the living room? It might be a while before you get pictures of that! Jack's room is next on my list. He's got some really cute stuff for his room, but I wont tell! You'll just have to wait for the pictures! Tomorrow Kellee and I are going to Romancing the Spouse in Dupont tomorrow. It's an event held to help the spouses of deployed soldiers get ready for their hunnies to come home. Lots of freebies and coupons! And who doesn't love freebies and coupons? Needless to say, Jack is doomed for yet another girly day. Daddy will have to do man dates with him when he gets home to make up for all this girly stuff I put him through.
