Jonah's Seussical 1st Birthday

Hello
Remember me?
I sometimes blog here.
When I'm not lazy..

Livin' Our Love Song is gearing up for daddy's second deployment. That means a "new look", more posts in the near future over the course of the deployment, and a new adventure for our family.

I hope you are liking our new layout,
If this is the first post of mine you are reading, how about I make this first post worth your time..

My family and friends have been waiting for this post for a long while.
My second born son, Jonah Allen Davis, turned one on July 11! His birthday party was a big hit and everyone had a great time.
Take a look:

The yummiest table in all of who-ville

Our Menu:

The birthday boy himself, in one of the "Cat in the Hat" hats all the kids made

Jonah's friends helped him open all his presents

One of the kids' favorite parts was dressing up in the Seuss props

My friend Jackie made Jonah's smash cake and the cupcakes. She is amazing and Jonah loved it

Cake doesn't last long with this boy (big brother even came to help him)

Mama and daddy's photo with the birthday boy

All the kids went home with a goodie bag filled with a jar of goldfish, Dr. Seuss bubbles, a pinwheel, and a toothbrush (to help rid their teeth of all the sweet stuff we ate). We also had guests sign a copy of Dr. Seuss's "Happy Birthday to You" Book for Jonah. We plan on continuing with that tradition at every birthday party of his.

It was a great first birthday party! I can't wait to embarass Jonah with these photos when he's older especially this one (: hehe

If you have questions about how to plan a Seussical party like ours, please email, leave a comment, anything. I'd love to help (:

Happy Birthday Avery!

Today my little sister turned SEVEN! Born in 2004, 6 1/2 half weeks early... she's always been smaller, but that's never stopped her from doing anything. 90% of the time we're out together, people think she's my child. And while it used to bother me, Avery has always just giggled and said "that's my sister silly!"

This little girl has brought so much joy to my life.
[at Disney World a few weeks ago]
Today, when I talked to her on the phone, I asked her to take a picture of her cake to send to me. She said "Kate, are you sure? It's a frog cake... I don't want you to be scared" Sidenote: I do have a fear of frogs, so she was being sweet :)

Avery Elizabeth,
I hope you had a GREAT birthday. I love you, girly.. even if it was a froggy party :)

Happy Birthday Jeff

Presenting the Jeff of Liberty! The is what the hilarious staff of Red Robin made Jeff do while they sang Happy Birthday to him. (Well it wasn't actually happy birthday that they sang, it was some funny, Red Robin-a-fied birthday rendition they came up with). They also made him put a spoon in his mouth but he took it out before we could snap the picture. We celebrated with friends (and roomies currently) Jeremy and Daniel. Lots of laughs and fun.

For his birthday Jack and I got daddy a game for the Wii he's been wanting:

I think it's safe to say he likes it alright, since he's playing it now (and talking to it like he does with his other favs, hehe). It actually looks like something I might try too. I'm not really a fan of the xbox games, but I'll try anything thats for the Wii, I *heart* my Wii.

I love my bestie

Happy Birthday to me! WOOT!
Being the smart military wife that she is, my best friend Kaylee decided to wait until I got settled in Washington to send my birthday present. I got it today! Kaylee I must say that you are the AWESOME :)

Be jealous folks, very jealous. This is every season of Reba that I don't have! AND a Target gift card. Jack is going to have to give up the tv to mama tonight. Goodbye Sesame Street, Helllooooo Reba!

Why yes, of course she sent something for the munchkin. A very cool set of keys that make noise and have a light... and make A LOT of noise when he bangs them on his high chair tray. And I must also say, they came in a very cool box as well. I'm keeping the tray part to put my pens/pencils in :)

In action with the banging, "Thanks aunt Kaylee , I LOVE them." love Flapjack.

Me acting all giddy right before I popped this baby into the DVD player! (Ignore my "it's cleaning day around here" hair, and don't worry I'm still cleaning... just enjoying some classic Barbara Jean and Reba arguments while I'm doing it :)

Happy Birthday Kellee!

My cupcake-lovin' friend Kellee turned 26 today. We went to Hello, Cupcake in Tacoma to celebrate and eat some amazing treats! In the 8 months I lived in Washington before, I had never been to Tacoma before today. I didn't get to see much but I think I will go back and visit the waterfront another day when we have warmer temperatures.

Jack also had his first taste of cupcake today...

He was equally pleases with his few bites as we were with our (more than a few) bites.

I also got to see Kelle's adorably girly kitchen today. Her husband told her that she could do whatever she wanted decor-wise in the kitche, that it was her space and she could have as much pink as she wanted as well! (Pink is another of her obsessions!) I hope that I can personalize my kitchen as much as she did. Maybe, not with the cupcakes and the color pink, but I would still like it to be cute like Kellee's!

Happy Birthday Kennedy!

Last week we celebrated Kennedy's fifth birthday! Two babies, two five year olds, two dogs, a mass of jabbering adults, and a princess cake... You've got yourself quite the party! Add in the New System cookies and Chex Mix that the diet-sabotaging Kelly offered, and you get a very happy Kate!

Kennedy had a princess cake with all the Disney princess on in. Snow White, Cinderella, Jasmin, Belle, and Ariel...

The best princess of all gets to be on top of the cake of course, KENNEDY!

The jabbering adults I told you about. As we can see, Laura definitely takes the cake (notice my pun there) in the jabbering contest.

It was so nice to kind of have some help with Jack. He got some quality male bonding in with Unlce Tom. Which I'm sure his daddy is happy about, since he has been squealing instead of crying lately...

The culprit! It was she! She, I tell you who brought the oh so tastey but oh so evil New System cookies into the house. She looks guilty to me, what do you think?

The boys weren't so interested in the festivites. If you ask me, Unlce Tom told them "Okay boys, if we just hold still and don't smile, they'll leave us alone."

Definitely my favorite picture of the night. I don't know what you're talking about Kelly, you're kiddos have beautiful eyes.

Well this was right before we had to call 911... only kidding! Those candles were pretty powerful though. The blur on the right is the birthday girl going in for the kill. Unfortunately, this is the only picture I got of her on her big day.

Kennedy, you are one of the most caring little girls I've ever met. You are beautiful and I have so much enjoyed watching you grow up so far. Jeff and I love you so much, little one. I can't wait to see what God has in store for you!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRANDDAD!

In response to the title, I'd like to first off wish a happy birthday one of the most amazing men I know. Little Jack has big shoes to fill. Jeff wishes he could be here to celebrate with you, Granddad. May you have a wonderful rest of your birthday week (since today is over) and may God bless you with many more birthdays! I love you. And so does #2! :)

Jack has his 1 month check-up yesterday morning. After mommy (9 lbs 15 oz) and daddy (9lbs 2 oz) both took bets on his weight the winner is...... neither of us! Jack weighed in at a whopping 10 lbs 2 oz! The doctor said thats right on track for his age. He is a little ahead in the length department, measuring at 22 1/4 inches. He definitely didn't get his height from me or Jeff. Jack was such a good boy. Didn't cry at all, just squirmed around and grunted and cooed like he always does. After the doctor's appointment we had lunch with Grandpa Kevin at his work. He was more than ready to show of his grandson to his co-workers. And of course everyone was more than ready to admire my handsome little man. Mommy even got lunch out of the visit! My favorite lunch was ready for me, baked chicken breast, green beans, and mashed potatoes, yum! The rest of the day was filled with a trip to walmart for formula, a trip to Hobby Lobby for polymer clay tools, and dinner with Ashley at Steak & Shake.

Today, I'm feeling so very accomplished, having cleaned the entire basement, getting all my laundry done, finishing 20 more charms, working on spanish homework, and still having time to do my daily duties as a mother! Just wanted to share about my superwoman day! Tonight, Jack and I had dinner at Aunt Chris's house for Granddad's birthday. The house was filled with the intoxicating smell of Nanny's cooking as soon as I opened the door. I told her she really should include a warning label on her food, "This product is addicting and could cause you too consume too much, resulting in the immediate gain of 5-10 pounds." Because I know I gained at least 2 tonight! Oh well, it was well worth it! Thank you Nanny for the wonderful meal. I think I will have to get the recipe from you for that chicken. I loved the breading or whatever you call it (please skip over my lack of culinary knowledge).

Too tired to concentrate enough to start some charms tonight, I am heading to bed. Jack is already there and I'm not far behind. Love to all!

Reunion, Max, Birthday, Laptop, and Jeff!

I'm too sleepy to post a grammar-worthy blog so this is whatcha get..

The family reunion on Sunday went very well. We had lots of yummy food. Lots of love. And lots of laughter. Aunt Emmy and uncle Gerald said they may make a trip down to see us after Jack gets here. yay! Uncle Chet even made it. Everyone could not believe how pregnant I was! Trina- thanks so much for putting it together, you did a great job as always and you are much appreciated. I was so exhausted after the reunion, I came home and slept from 6pm to 10pm! I then woke back up for a couple hours and fell back asleep til the next morning. I was pooped! Max also performed in his last Scioto Valley Sensations concert on Sunday at the Salt Creek Valley Festival. I was not able to attend because of the family reunion, but from what I hear he did a wonderful job as always. I sure am going to miss going to those concerts. Mackie- love you bud! Monday, I had lunch with Ashley and caught up with her a little bit. She and I have both been pretty busy and haven't got to hang out as much as usual. I picked up Avery from school and we went home to wait on Mama and Max to get home. Dinner that night was held at Giovanni's (YUM!) for Preston's 10th birthday! Amy brought balloons and a cake and everything. You can't beat Giovanni's pizza and confetti cake. Once again, I came home for the night and crashed. Phew, I think my body shuts down around 6-7pm these days.

Today, I did not wake up until around noon. I guess I'm getting my lazy sleep-in days in while I still can. Only about one more week (if that) left of those. I picked up Aye and we went for lunch at Chinese Buffet. It's pretty much our favorite place and I think we go there at least once a week these days. After lunch, mom and Max met us in town to help me shop for a new laptop. I have always wanted a smaller one than, mine is a 17 inch. And in the last year or so, its size has become especially bothersome because of all the traveling I've done. Well, I made a deal with my grandma and she said she would buy my laptop from me (since she's looking for one for herself anyways) and I could get a smaller one like I want. So that's what I did! I purchased a 15in. dell from walmart today. I got a pretty good deal for the amount of RAM and memory it has. It also has a webcam built-in which will be especially nice. I have cleaned off my old laptop and its ready to go to grandma! Yay for getting things done! After walking around at least 4 stores today comparing computers I was pretty tired. My body is telling me I am getting close to labor, I'll spare you the gross details on the ways its telling me. Do I think I'll make it til Jeff gets here? Only God knows now. We will just have to wait and see. I have not talked to him since Saturday night. But knowing that he is coming home soon, I am sure he is busy getting everything squared away with that. I can't wait to have him home for a while. I can almost feel his arms around me now! Gosh, I love that man! :) I have my 39 weeks appointment tomorrow and will be writing an update tomorrow night. So look forward to that and for now this army wife is out! Love to all!
