Oh Sunny Day

Exactly what I wanted to see on the weather report for my last day in Washington!

67 degrees, sunny, 0% chance of rain, and 46% humidity.

We're off to breakfast and then finding something fun to do to enjoy this weather.

Raindrops keep fallin' on my head

Well folks, summer is over :( Definitely... so... over. At least here in the Pacific Northwest it is. Kellee, you shush about your summery weather in Colorado.

Today we braved the rain and went to the Pumpkin Fest in Orting, Washington (Details HERE). Orting is a cute little town. And the Fest was cute too. Definitely doesn't compare to the Pumpkin show in Circleville, Ohio. But it was a nice way to spend the day. Rain boots and jackets in tow, we listened to some local bands, ate at a "hole-in-the-wall" restaurant called Route 66 Pizza, and bought me my first cowgirl hat :) We had planned on picking up some pumpkins from a pumpkin patch on the way home, but Jack had other plans. He was testing us big time today, and we decided that we will wait 'til tomorrow to go pumpkin pickin'. There is a family farm thats on our way home from church, hopefully the weather will be a bit better tomorrow as well.

On Jack's list of new talents, he can say "OWWW". His uncle Jeremy has been working hard to teach him "OW" and "MINE" before he has to move home to Arizona. One down, one to go, Jeremy. Not only does he say "ow" for things that hurt. But he says it when he's mad, when we discipline him, and when he's playing. Anyone else lucky enough to have a 1 year old that knows only the words "daddy", "mama", "nana", "huh?", and "OWWW"? It's a good time, let me tell ya.

After Jeff and the boys are done watching some boy movie.. I think it's called Last Man Standing? And after we put Jack to sleep... My wonderfull hubby is taking me to see Life As We Know It.

I've been excited about this movie since I saw the trailer the first time. Katherine Heigl and Josh Duhamel star as two single people that are named in a mutual friend's will as guardians for the baby. Should be funny. I'm all about humor, and this film looks promising!

One last question, does anyone else have a 1 year old human garbage disposal?

Just as good the second time

Picked up my copy of The Twilight Saga: New Moon today. I must say I was very impressed all over again. Bella is so frustrating. How anyone can stand there and look at Jacob and chose Edward over him is beyond me. I'd much rather have the Jacob's warmth (among other things) than Edward's coldness. Not only is he cold to the touch, but cold describes his personality too! To each their own but I'm definitely Team Jacob when it comes to The Twilight Saga. But, when it comes to my life, I'm team JEFF!

Has anyone else been loving this sunshine? It just starts my day off right, when I can wake up to the warmth and light coming through my windows. I went with mom and Avery to a place in Circleville called "The Weekend Outlet." For lack of a better way to explain, it's much like a cross between a Goodwill, Ollie's, and a big yard sale. I bought a few odds and ends, including summer shorts for Jack, a pair of shorts for me, and a car charger for my cell phone. We enjoyed lunch on the patio at Sonic after shopping and headed home so mom could make it in time to pick up Max from dress rehearsal. (His play is next weekend, be sure to see a showing!). Jack was snoozing in his carseat when we arrived, so I took advantage and cleaned out my car of trash and things that needed to go inside. I had planned on taking it to the carwash to be cleaned inside and out, but they were closed for the day when I passed by so that will have to wait until tomorrow. We went to the flood wall and met Erin and her mama to walk a while and chat, but our walk was cut short by Jack's hungry whining. A stop at Sams Club for apple juice and milk, and we headed home. A surprise visit by Troy, Ramalee, and Alex made our day! We have missed them and were very happy to hear their knock on the door. It was great to catch up on what's been going on in their lives, and update them on ours. They left about 8pm and Erin and I were too hungry to cook, so we had dinner at Frisch's. But, as usual, we highly overestimated our stomach capacity and barely finished half the food on our table.

We finished the night with A New Moon screening and I worked on some more vacation plans with Kaylee! It's looking like we will be taking a trip to San Antonio, Texas at the end of April sometime. We are very excited and can't wait to work out the details and finally hang out! We're also excited for our boys to meet. Kaylee's son, Parker, is not much younger than Jack. Kaylee, once again I want to say I'm SO excited! I hope you are too. I think this will be a good way to get our minds off deployment a little bit, as I've heard time slows way down towards the end.

Cold = Unhappy Kate

I hate the cold weather we've been having so much that my detest for it was worthy of the title today. I'm finding myself missing Washington more than ever, soley because it's 45 degrees there today. It's sunny there today too! Mother nature is taunting me. You know what the temperature here in Ohio is today? 28. Yep, 28 degrees. But oh wait, let's not forget that the "feels like" temperature is 15 degrees. The worst part is that it looks warm outside. (Another example of mother nature's despise for me).

I'm shocked to report that at 4 and a half months old, our little Jack is wearing 6 month clothing. He's actually almost to tall for it. We might have a basketball player on our hands here folks! But, he does have those "catcher" genes in him somewhere so I'm sure he'll just be a tall baseball player. Or hey, maybe even both.

After talking to Jeff while I was feeding Jack lunch today, we are both at a loss as to how to get our son to swallow some cereal (or anything for that matter) from a spoon. I know it takes time, and I know he doesn't have to start just yet. But we've been at it for a week now, and he wants no part of it. I've also tried applesauce, and that's obviously not hitting the spot either. I guess he will get it eventually. He's just so darn stubborn. I think he takes after his daddy! Or better yet, he takes after Jackie James #1!  :)

I start back to school on Monday. I can already tell that this quarter is going to be harder than the first. In a way, I'm sort of happy about that. I feel like my fall quarter classes didn't really challenge me much. I haven't looked at my Nutrition class page yet, but I did look at my Sociology page and our final paper topic will be analyzing an event that happened the year we were born. So get those brains a-thinking for me!

In other and finals Davis family news, I got an email from the FRG today. They have met with LTC about redeployment and and post-deployment leave. Right now we are still looking at a 12 month deployment. We will know more when the replacements for Jeff's unit arrive in theater. The word is that about 3 weeks after they get there, our guys will be able to redeploy! When they come home they will have a couple days off work completely, and then they will do half days in order to get paperwork, shots, counseling, etc. done. After those two weeks are over, block leave will start! Our block leave will be 3 weeks long.

All this talk about reployment makes me so happy! It means that it's happening pretty soon! Alright, my mom is yelling at me because I'm going to be late for my chiropractor appointment so I better go before I get my butt whooped. That's all for now.

A Little Readjustment

I'm sitting in Jack's room waiting for him to fall asleep right now because of two reasons. One: he has a cough. Two: he has become much too used to sleeping in mommy's bed. Yesterday it took me 2 hours to get him to sleep in his crib. We're only just now going on one hour tonight and he's pretty close to dream land. So this is a big improvement from last night. I am a little worried about his cough and I think if its not better in the morning I will call the pediatrician. Just to be safe.

Daddy is supposed to be calling sometime tonight but we have yet to hear from him so far. Oh well. I know he will call if he can.

Avery and erin are in the living room watching "madeline" through my free trial of netflix. I found the converter box I needed to hook my computer to the tv. So they are watching the movie right from the internet, but they are watching it on the television. Isn't that cool? I am turning in my cable box to time warner either tomorrow or Friday. I just don't watch cable that much at all. (Only for my weekly guilty pleasure of "Bad Girls Club" on the Oxygen channel, but I will survive). Netflix is great for me. And the offer full past seasons of tons of tv shows. And the best part, its MUCH cheaper this way than paying for cable.

Okay this wind is crazy! The rain was comforting, but this wind is insanity. One of my favorite quotes came from a book I got at Hallmark for my soldier. "You look up and find a dark cloud overhead. It makes you feel sad. But then something starts to fall from above. It's rainshine, and it came straight from the silver lining." So in this case I guess the rainshine, err windshine is that I'm pretty sure I won't have to year blush for the next couple days.. wind burn makes a fairly good rouge!

I just tucked Avery in and the house is quiet. Jack is finally resting peacefully and Avery is well on her way to sleep in my room. I'm cuddled up on the couch with a hot cup of tea getting the very last of my Christmas shopping done. Prayers go out to my mama today. She is not feeling very well. Washington visits Ohio

I know everyone is hating this weather we've been having, but I have to say I feel right at home. Welcome to Washington my fellow Ohioans! This gloomy, gray, wetness we've been experiencing is pretty dead on. I actually miss it sometimes, so it's been quite refreshing for me. Yes, I know, I'm an odd one. I'll admit it.

With the big announcement of my weight loss journey yesterday, the daily journal I usually write was mostly overshadowed. Yesterday was a fairly normal day. Jack and I hung out here at home. He was awake most the day and played with his baby gym. I really need to invest in a different model of that gym. The one he has just has one bar that extends over him, and because there's only one, it often gets knocked over by my son's curious arms. I would like to get him one that has to bars that criss cross overtop him. They bars are connected, therefore they are harder to knock over. We will see, maybe for Christmas. We talked to daddy all morning over Yahoo Messenger and webcam. Jack was very intrigued with the keyboard but he looked right at the camera for daddy for a while too. And of course Jeff loves being able to see him. I asked him once if it made it worse when he sees him. He replied with "It makes it harder, but I love to see him anyways." So, every chance I get, Jack sits right on my lap and gets to see his daddy. We love you daddy!

At 2pm Jack and I headed out to Southeastern to pick up Avery from school. The first conversation I had with her in the car went like this:
Avery: "There's Caleb! And there's Caleb's mommy!"
Me: "Oh yeah? Do you like Caleb?"
Avery: "No! He spits on me at circle time!"
Me: "He spits on you?"
Avery: "Yeah, when he says tooth..PASTE!"

Oh my, too be young again. She and Jack are the light of my life. I can't imagine what she'll be teaching Jack in a couple years. And add Justin as an instructor too.. Oh man Jeff and I are in trouble.

We continued from Southeastern to my mom's house so I could get some laundry done. Mom and Max got home about an hour later and did a quick change before heading out to a Symphany concert. The symphany played songs from Star Wars from what I understand, so that was right up Max and Mama's alley. I have not talked to either of them yet today but I'm sure they had a blast. Rick got home and I decided to meet Erin for dinner at my favorite restaurant, Bob Evans! Yum, yum! We ate our dinner, Jack ate his, and the three of us stopped by Wal-Mart before heading home. The rest of the night was pretty boring really, I got some homework done, and put away dishes, did my yoga, and Jack and I headed to bed. 

Nothing really on the schedule for today except our normal Thursday dinner at John and Laura's. I would like to wish Ashley good luck at her meeting today, and say thank you for everyone's great responses to my new lifestyle change and new blog.
